Anne sneaked into her mom’s stash of historical romance as a teenager and broadened her horizons a bit in college before focusing on other genres.

A few years ago, when she was pregnant with her first child, she started downloading spicy romance novels again. She found the fast-paced stories relaxed her brain and provided a welcome escape, but she also appreciated how authors focused on issues like consent and representation of ethnicities, mental illness, and medical conditions. It’s not hard to find stories about women you know or wish you know.

Much of that probably has to do with independent authors. They see stories and topics that aren’t getting the attention they deserve, so they write and publish it themselves. They work within thin margins, an avalanche of demands, and intense competition for readers.

So now, Anne’s starting a newsletter to help these independent authors and passionate readers find each other.
